Lollypop Farm – Pet of the Week

Sorry I missed posting Pet of the Week last week, but here are my choices for this week!

Wanita #13825045

Could this little girl be any cuter? Look at her big brown puppy eyes and those wonderful, pricked up ears! Wanita is a 1-year-old, 33 pound Pitt Bill mix. She was found as a stray and brought to Lollypop Farm in the hopes she will find a loving forever home. She is a bit on the shy side, but once she warms up to you, she’s a lover. Wantia and her adopter will have to enroll in training classes. She is eager to please and training classes will help build a solid relationship. You will receive a discount on your first course with Wanita. A home with children over the age of 16 is recommended. Wanita needs to meet all family members, dogs included. Come out and meet this cutie with a curl in her tail…she’s looking for a family willing to give her the time and attention she deserves!

Roxi #13681359

This 4-month-old kitten is sweet and sassy! Roxi was surrendered with her littermates and spent some time in a foster care home while they grew big enough be adopted. When she is awake, Roxi is a girl on the go. She busies herself with chasing toys at top speed, attacking bugs, playing with the dog’s tail, putting those pesky pens back on the floor where they belong, and helping with your spelling when typing up a messx9aijge. (See what I mean?) But Roxi’s need for speed doesn’t keep her from cuddling up on your lap, or your shoulder, for a bit to purr and get some much needed one-on-one time. Roxi has a heart murmur, so her adopters will need to speak with our veterinarian to understand what that means. No matter what, she’ll definitely keep you laughing, give you love, and make a great family member.

Lollypop Farm – Pet of the Week

Molly #13490831

Molly is a 4-year-old Retriever mix who is happy to see the end of the summer! In July, she was found as a stray in Lima and brought to Lollypop Farm. After arriving at Lollypop Farm she gave birth! Molly and her puppies went into foster care while the puppies were nursing. Now that she knows her puppies have been adopted into good homes she is ready to find her own loving forever home. Molly is a great dog who is eager to please and responds well to treats and praise. She can use some help learning how to walk on a leash and might benefit from training classes. Training classes are a wonderful way to build your relationship with your dog, and you will receive a discount on your first course with Molly. Come out and meet this nice girl…she can’t wait to find a good home where she is loved and well cared for!

Silas #13878763

Silas is a 3-year-old male cat who weighs 12.5 pounds. He was found as a stray in Canandaigua and brought to Lollypop Farm. His family never claimed him, so now he’s interviewing potential adopters! Silas is super friendly and has become a staff favorite! He’s a very playful and affectionate cat. Silas loves getting attention and being petted. This sweetie will even give you kisses to show his appreciation. Silas has a bit of a bossy paw, when you stop petting him, he will tap your hand with his paw to ask for more! Since Silas was a stray, we don’t know anything about his history–but we do know he’s a wonderful cat.

Casper and Amber, the dog and cat from last week, were adopted! And, during the two-day Cat-to-School Special last weekend, 98 homeless cats and kittens were adopted to new, loving homes!

Lollypop Farm – Pet of the Week

Casper #1063798

Casper is an 11-year-old white German shepherd/Husky mix who weighs 58 pounds. He was brought to Lollypop Farm because his previous owner didn’t feel he was getting the attention he deserves. This elegant gentleman is a very sweet dog who walks well on his leash, likes to be petted and take treats ever so gently. A home with children over the age of 10 would be best for Casper due to his size and age. He is available in the Seniors-for-Seniors program, so adopters age 60 and older can take him home free of charge! Casper is waiting with his paws crossed for a nice, comfortable home where he can spend his golden years. Come and meet this beautiful boy today!

Amber #13807118

Amber is a sleek 2-year-old cat with a beautiful silvery gray fur coat. She was found with her two kittens and brought to Lollypop Farm in the hopes they would all find loving forever homes. Amber’s kittens have been adopted, so now it’s her turn! She’s a very sweet and loving girl. Amber is a quiet cat who loves to have her head scratched. Her gentle kneading shows how much she loves the attention. Please consider adopting Amber and giving her a fresh start. She will make a wonderful companion…you’ll wonder how you ever managed without her!

___________

Lollypop Farm is having a Cat-to-School Special on Friday, September 16, and Saturday, September 17, all cats who are one year and older will be completely free of charge at all four of their adoption centers during regular hours. Cats younger than one year will be available to adopt for just $99.

  • Feline leukemia testing
  • Vaccinations and deworming
  • A certificate for a free health exam
  • A 30-day gift of pet health insurance
  • Microchipping
  • Advantage flea-control treatment
  • Free behavior advice

BlogPaws – Top Five Highlights (#3)

3. ACES Workshop

I had the privilege of attending a special three-hour “blogger edition” of the Animal Center Education Services (ACES) workshop offered at the Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC) in Ranch Santa Fe, California. During this special edition of the workshop, P&G Pet Care brought Mike Arms (HWAC president), Krissie Newman (animal advocate and vice president of the Ryan Newman Foundation) and Angela Morris (P&G Pet Care) together to share proven and effective ways to find families for orphaned pets.

This workshop was fantastic and I’m so excited to be able to share some of the information I learned with Lollypop Farm! The absolute best tidbit from this workshop was from Mike Arms. He told us about an adoption event to increase the adoption rate of black cats: Me and my Shadow. If you adopt a cat during this event you can take home a black cat for free! Since I have a black cat, I absolutely love this idea. I hate that black cats have lower adoption rates because of silly myths or the idea that they aren’t as pretty as other varieties of cats. Black cats are wonderful, beautiful creatures who have just as much love and affection to give!

Thank you P&G Pet Care.

Check back tomorrow for #2 (and maybe #1) on my list of BlogPaws Top Five Highlights!

Lollypop Farm – Pet of the Week

This week, I picked an adorable rat terrier named Ziggy. He’s been up for adoption for three weeks, which surprises me since he is a so cute and little!  My cat pick is Momma, a beautiful tiger cat.

Ziggy #13524188

Ziggy is an eight-year-old male Rat terrier mix who weighs ten pounds. He was found as a stray in Holley, New York and brought to Lollypop Farm where he’s waiting to find the forever home he deserves. We don’t know much about Ziggy’s past, but we do know he loves people. Ziggy enjoys the attention of shelter volunteers, especially when they take him for a walk! This little guy would do best in a home with children over the age of 16 as he is a bit fearful of quick movements. Ziggy is eligible for our Seniors-for-Seniors program, so adopters age 60 and older can take him home free of charge! If you are interested in meeting this little guy, bring the whole family out, including any resident dogs to make sure they will be friends. Come and meet Ziggy today–he just might end up being your new BFF!

Momma #12122435

Momma is a 2-year-old female cat with a beautiful brown tiger coat. She was brought to Lollypop Farm because the landlord would not allow her previous owner to keep her. Momma is, in fact, a mother who was brought to Lollypop Farm with her kittens. Her kittens have all been adopted, now it’s Momma’s turn to find a loving forever home! Momma had a difficult time adjusting to life at the shelter, so she has been living in a foster home where she loves to watch the world go by her window. This pretty girl has lived with both cats and dogs before, though she really isn’t terribly fond of dogs. Do you have room in your home and your heart for this calm kitty? Please email Karib@lollypop.org today to make an appointment to meet Momma.

As I mentioned last week, Bear and Chocolate were both adopted! Genny, the dog from the week before was adopted too! Wedge, the cat from my very first Pet of the Week post, is still patiently waiting for a new home. He has been at Lollypop Farm since May. If you know anyone in the Rochester, NY area looking for a wonderful boy, tell them about Wedge!

Lollypop Farm – Pet of the Week

Good news, bad news: The featured dog is pending adoption and the cat was adopted! Even though my two picks are no longer available, there are many deserving animals at Lollypop Farm (and in shelters or rescues near you) looking for a new home.

Bear #13651795

Bear is an 11-year-old Border Collie/Lab mix who’s looking for a nice home where he can enjoy his retirement years. He was brought to Lollypop Farm because his family was moving and couldn’t take him along. Bear walks well on the leash! He has lived with kids before, but needs to go to a home with children over the age of six. He also needs to meet any dogs in the household before adoption to make sure they’ll be buddies. He has lived peacefully with both with dogs and cats in his previous home. Bear is available in the Seniors-for-Seniors program, so adopters age 60 and older can take him home free of charge! Bear is eager to meet you and to become your companion!

Chocolate #1113357

Chocolate is a beautiful, 6-year-old male black cat. Chocolate is at Lollypop Farm for a second time through no fault of his own. Originally, he was here because his owners had too many cats and now, six years later, he is back because his owners were moving and could not take him along. This handsome boy is a curious kitty who likes to play with toys but isn’t fond of thunderstorms. He is front declawed, so he is looking for a new home where he can stay inside. Chocolate is eligible for our Seniors-for-Seniors program, so adopters age 60 and older can take him home free of charge. Chocolate is also one of our Featured Felines: Black Cats. Now through Friday (9/2), adopt him for just $35, or any other black cat, 5 months or older! This sweet boy wants to meet you today!

Oliver, the cat from last week was adopted! The dog, Genny, is still looking for a new forever home.

Lollypop Farm – Pet of the Week

Here are my two picks for this week:

Genny
#13743577

Genny is a 3.5-year-old female American Foxhound mix who weighs 52 pounds. This sweetie came to Lollypop Farm because her family had too many pets and didn’t feel she was getting the attention she deserves. Her tail thumps out quite a beat on the kennel walls and she has a smile for anyone who will stop by to say hello. Genny is your typical hound with long graceful legs, a beautiful face and wonderfully expressive ears! Genny has lived most of her life outside. She is eager to please and looks forward to adjusting to the comforts of being an inside dog! A home with children over the age of 6 is recommended, due to the fact that she has never lived with children. She’d also prefer a home with no cats or small animals. Come out and meet Genny today…she can’t wait to become a member of your family!

Oliver
#11863322

Oliver is a 7-year-old male cat. He’s wearing a grey tiger cat suit! He was brought to Lollypop Farm because his owner was moving and couldn’t take him along. Oliver is a confident boy who likes to do everything in a big way! This kitty likes to be smack in the middle of things, but he’ll still make plenty of time to show you his affectionate side. He loves to play with toys, give kisses and will definitely curl up in an available lap. He has been living in the cattery and gets along well with other cats, and he lived peacefully with a dog in his previous home. Oliver is eligible for our Seniors-for-Seniors program, so adopters age 60 and older can take him home free of charge. Come and meet him today!

Good news…Jake, the dog from last week was adopted! The cat, Wedge, is still looking for a new forever home. If you’re thinking about adding a new pet to your family, please consider Genny, Oliver or Wedge!

Lollypop Farm – Pet of the Week

Volunteering at Lollypop Farm is one of the highlights of my week! I love dedicating my time to help animals get adopted. One of my volunteer jobs supports the marketing department. Each week I pick out dogs and cats currently available for adoption to be featured as the Pet of the Week. I write a profile for each pet and send them out to local bloggers, news outlets, radio shows and even large companies who have agreed to distribute the information. It’s a fun job…I spend time getting to know the animals and track them until they are adopted!

Do you volunteer or work at a pet focused organization? I’d love to know what you do to support pets in your community!

So here are two of my picks this week:

Jake #10275214
Meet Jake! Jake is nearly 3-years-old and weighs about 60 pounds. He is a very social, friendly boy who loves people and loves to play. He can be on the shy side until he gets to know you, but once you’re friends, you’re friends for life! Jake is a staff favorite. He was brought to Lollypop Farm because his owners could no longer care for him. He is crate-trained and house-trained and is very friendly with other dogs. It seems that Jake is a firm believer that dogs rule, so we recommend he goes to a home without cats. He also is a little nervous about rough play and quick movements and would do best in a home with children over the age of 16. Come in and meet Jake today if you’re looking for a wonderful companion!

Wedge #13034167
Wedge is a 5-year-old male black and white cat who has been waiting too long for a new home. He came to Lollypop Farm in May, because his family was moving and could not bring him along. Wedge is a mellow boy who enjoys lots of attention. He has been trained to use a scratching post! This sweet boy lived with children in his previous home and enjoyed their company. He has been living in the cattery and gets along well with other cats, but he’s a bit cautious when it comes to dogs. Wedge is one of our Featured Felines: Cattery Cats. Now through Friday (8/19), you can adopt him for just $35, or any other cat, 5 months or older, who is living in the cattery! Come out and meet Wedge…you won’t be disappointed!

Welcome to Tails of a Puppaccino

My name is Audrey and I am passionate about pets! I volunteer at my local shelter, Lollypop Farm, and I am in the process of starting a non-profit organization to benefit local pets. I share my life with my dog, Macy, and cat, Koko…now, we want to share our adventures with you!

Macy is an eight-year-old Coonhound mix (Plott hound/Black and Tan Coonhound). She rescued me when she was just six-weeks-old and we have been inseparable ever since. You will soon learn she has quite the personality! Koko was our foster kitten. Macy and I fell in love with Koko, so we thought she should become a permanent member of the family. She has been with us for just about two years! It’ hard to believe it’s been that long!

Puppaccino is one of the many nicknames I have for Macy and the inspiration for the title of this blog. At some point I’m sure I’ll share all the nicknames I have for both Macy and Koko.

I think that’s enough to get us started! I hope you enjoy following our adventures as we navigate life, start a non-profit and share our thoughts on various pet related topics. I look forward to getting to know you too! Leave us a comment or two, or follow us on twitter (@puppaccino) and we’ll follow you back!
